Town and Country Hospital Celebrates 30 Years of Service
August 2011

In 1981 a group of dedicated, local physicians with a vision to provide high quality healthcare, established Town & Country Hospital to serve the local communities in Northwest Hillsborough County and Northeast Pinellas County.

The mission to provide excellent healthcare has remained constant as the 201 bed hospital has grown into a medically advance facility with comprehensive medical, diagnostic, surgical and emergency services.

Town & County Hospital is equipped with the expertise and technology to provide a wide array of health services that includes a 22 bed emergency department, advanced diagnostic services, and comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation.

Specialized care centers include an Alcohol and Drug Recovery Center, Digestive Health and Endoscopy Center, a Men’s Health Center, a Sleep Center, and a Skilled Nursing Unit.

The staff of 500 dedicated employees and more than 300 physicians is committed to providing high-quality healthcare and exceptional customer service. Town & Country Hospital offers all private rooms, room service, chef prepared meals, and wireless internet in a friendly comfortable hospital environment. Community education classes are offered as a service to the public.

The expertise and professionalism exhibited at Town & Country Hospital has not gone unnoticed in the medical realm. This facility has been singled out repeatedly for exceptional performance. Many staff physicians have been featured in USA Today as top physicians in their field, and a 2010 Press Ganey ED Pulse Report found that the Town & Country Emergency Room beat national average wait times by a full 50%. The hospital was recognized by Healthgrades in 2011 as being in the top 10% of national hospitals for the treatment of strokes. Town& Country operates a primary stroke center certified by the Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA).

The Addiction Recovery Unit is one of the few hospital based, medically supervised, Detox Units in the country, and the Addiction Recovery Unit has been featured on A&E’s nationally recognized television program “Intervention.”

Town & County’s Skilled Nursing Unit was awarded a 5 star rating in 2010 by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services, and a brand new Behavioral Health Unit opened its doors in December 2010 as a welcome addition for both the hospital and the community.

Plans are already in place to make the next 30 years even more exceptional than the last. Town & Country’s parent company, IASIS Healthcare, invested over $3 million dollars, last year alone towards new technology, instruments, equipment and facility upgrades. Remodeling and refreshing is currently in process for patient rooms and common areas. Establishing new services and physician recruiting are part on the ongoing philosophy that results from responding to the needs of the communities served by Town & Country Hospital. Measuring tools are used to determine how well the community needs are met and to establish the level of satisfaction patients experience during outpatient and inpatient visits. Town & Country collaborates with leading quality organizations such as the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), and the Agency for Research and Quality (AHRQ). Customer service scores are above state average in all areas. Town & Country Hospital’s Administrator, Dale Johns, is proud of all the growth and improvements and states, “We welcome the opportunity to serve you and your family, we thank you for your trust, and I personally invite you to make Town and Country Hospital your hospital”.
