She started in the Food and Nutrition Services ( FANS)
department. While working in FANS, she volunteered in
the cardiology department, learning to do EKGs. She
soon transferred to the cardiology department, first
working as an EKG tech and then trained to become an
echosonographer.
Cardiopulmonary Director Pete Hendricksen noted that
Elizabeth was nominated because she has tremendous compassion
for all her patients. Coincidentally, Pete has also
won their Chairman’s Award. He says, “ Elizabeth
is a dedicated worker who always goes out of her way
to meet the needs of her patients, co-workers and the
physicians she works with. Elizabeth will stay late
to complete all tests ordered by the physicians. When
a stat procedure is ordered after hours, she will come
in to complete the procedure, even if she is not on
call.”
Elizabeth loves gardening. She is also very active in
her church. She teaches Sunday school every week. She
also organizes and participates in fundraisers to support
the various ministries of the church. She has been a
director of vacation bible school at both her church
and youth summer camp. During a mission trip to Lima,
Peru, she helped create a summer camp environment and
vacation bible school experience for kids in Lima. Last
summer, Elizabeth also volunteered to be the first aid
worker at a youth summer camp. We congratulate Elizabeth,
on this honor and thank her for her many contributions
to our hospital and out community.
