Specialty Care from
a Pediatric Hospitalist
The pediatric hospitalist on staff consults with staff pediatricians
and coordinates care when requested. A hospitalist is a
doctor who specializes in the complexities of hospital care.
If your doctor requests the hospitalist’s services,
you will be notified prior to admission. When a child comes
through the TCH Emergency Department and is admitted to
the hospital, the hospitalist may also be called in to manage
care. The hospitalist will communicate with your child’s
pediatrician to keep them informed of your child’s
condition and to coordinate a smooth transition of care
at discharge.

Admission and Registration
Children can be scheduled for services in three ways:
• At the direction of a physician for a scheduled
overnight stay
