The illness of a child is always stressful, but at Town & Country Hospital, our pediatric staff strives to make a child’s stay as comfortable as possible – both for the patients and family. From around-the-clock nursing care to special services such as toy check-out and playroom, our pediatric unit offers advanced medical services for children in compassionate, non-threatening surroundings.

Pediatric Care Is a Family Affair
We encourage your questions and welcome you as a partner in your child’s care. As the parent or guardian designated to stay at the hospital during your child’s stay, you are a guest in our house. Our style of specialized medical care and friendly interaction will provide peace of mind for both you and your child.

Accommodations

When dedicated staff can provide care in an advanced medical facility with all private rooms and room service dining, patients have the best environment for excellent, personalized, compassionate care. The 16-bed pediatric unit combines comfortable accommodations and specialized medical care to provide peace of

mind for both you and your child. Every member of your child’s care team is focused on your child’s recovery and well-being. Each room has a cheerful ambiance of colorful beach scenes that bring our gang of friendly “Beach Buddies” to life.

Specialty Care from a Pediatric Hospitalist
The pediatric hospitalist on staff consults with staff pediatricians and coordinates care when requested. A hospitalist is a doctor who specializes in the complexities of hospital care. If your doctor requests the hospitalist’s services, you will be notified prior to admission. When a child comes through the TCH Emergency Department and is admitted to the hospital, the hospitalist may also be called in to manage care. The hospitalist will communicate with your child’s pediatrician to keep them informed of your child’s condition and to coordinate a smooth transition of care at discharge.

Admission and Registration
Children can be scheduled for services in three ways:
• At the direction of a physician for a scheduled overnight stay
• At the direction of a physician for an outpatient procedure (testing or therapy)
• As the result of a visit to the Emergency Department.

Comprehensive Service
Pediatric services at TCH are designed to provide general care for low acuity cases, especially digestive, respiratory and infection diagnoses. Allowing you to have a full-service pediatric center close to home is our goal.

Services include:
• Diagnostics
• Emergency Care
• Inpatient Medical Care
• Outpatient Care (Imaging, Laboratory, Rehabilitation & Wound Care)

Diagnostic Services
Both inpatient and outpatient diagnostic services are available through a variety of departments.

Laboratory: The outpatient laboratory at TCH provides services such as: strep screens, urinalysis, comprehensive chemistry profile complete blood cell counts, endocrinology, microbiology and blood banking. Results are provided to your physician in a timely manner.

Radiology: Radiologists and well-trained technicians are available to support physicians in diagnosing your child’s condition effectively and promptly.

Emergency Care
The Emergency Department at TCH has cared for children for more than 25 years. Our 23-bed unit provides prompt triage, diagnostic and medical services. A staff of specially trained emergency physicians and nurses stand ready to care for your child.

Rehabilitation Therapies
Our hospital provides a full range of comprehensive rehabilitation including: physical, occupational and speech therapy services. Therapists motivate children to enhance recovery and play a key role in their recovery.

Wound Care
Occasionally, children will have wounds that take an unusually long time to heal. These can be caused by traumatic injury, infections or burns. The TCH outpatient Wound Healing Center has received the Gold Seal certification from JCAHO and provides excellent treatment for these and other cases.
