Town & Country Hospital
is a leader in incorporating innovative technology to improve
patient care. We were the first in the county to have fully
automated, “smart” operating rooms for minimally
invasive surgical procedures. We also use the daVinci robotic
surgery system to perform minimally invasive surgeries.
The endoscopy unit offers some non-invasive techniques, including
M2A – also known as the “video camera in a pill”
– for the comfortable diagnosis of some conditions and
the Bravo Ph monitor that measures gastrointestinal acid levels.
Surgical procedures are offered by specialists in the following
areas:
• Bariatrics
• Cardiovascular
• Gastroenterology
• General Surgery
• Gynecology
• Neurology
• Ophthalmology
• Oral/maxillofacial
• Orthopaedics
• Otolaryngology (ENT)
• Plastic/Reconstructive
• Urological
New Operating
Room Suites
OR1 units by Karl
Storz Endoscopy will integrate virtually every operating room
component into a single optimized system for endoscopic surgery.
This is advanced surgery equipment that will allow the surgeon
to network to bring all information such as medical records,
x-rays, MRI images, and other vital information that may be
needed during an operation.
New
State-of-the-Art Equipment
The da Vinci surgical robtotic system combines computer-enhanced
technology with the surgeon's skill and knowledge to perform
precise, minimally invasive operations, through incisions
that are only about one centimeter long. Robotic surgery offers
many benefits to patients, including less pain and trauma
to the body and shorter recovery and healing times.
The da Vinci will be used
in
· Urology
· General Surgery
· Gynecology
Many of the cases will include
prostate surgery, laparoscopic cholychstectomies and colectomies,
hysterectomies, and tubal ligations.
The robotic surgical system
offers several advantages over traditional laparoscopic surgery.
The instruments are designed to provide a wide range of motion,
allowing the surgeon to rotate instruments more than 360 degrees.
The system is also “intuitive' which means
as the surgeon twists the controls clockwise, the robots instruments
move clockwise. In standard laparoscopic surgery, the movement
of the instruments is 'counter-intuitive' which is similar
to doing surgery while looking into a mirror. Finally, the
robotic system enhances accuracy by correcting and compensating
for any tremor in the surgeon's hand.
There are many benefits
to patients, including:
· Reduced trauma to the body
· Less anesthesia
· Less post-operative pain and discomfort
· Less risk of infection
· Shorter hospital stays
· Faster recovery and healing
· Less scarring
